Emirati Artist Ebtisam Abdulaziz at AGSIW
The Arab Weekly discussed Emirati artist Ebtisam Abdulaziz, whose artwork is currently featured at AGSIW. Abdulaziz’s art uses geometry and mathematics to express belonging and identity. Much of her artwork is autobiographical. Abdulaziz commented: “Artists are like journalists. We write the history of our times.”
Abdulaziz’s work on display at AGSIW includes a playful field of domino- or dice-like squares representing numerical street signs when she first moved to the United States and several pieces from her autobiographical series of 200 grid papers.
